Counselling and Psychotherapy

Frequently Asked Questions

How much will it cost?

Please contact me for fee details. Depending on personal circumstances a lower fee can sometimes be agreed for day time sessions and if necessary this can be discussed during our initial session. Payment can be made by cash or cheque.

How do I know if counselling is for me?
Your initial session is for us to discuss your needs and expectations and usually I will offer a second session to reflect and discuss to help you decide whether you want to come for counselling sesions with me.

How long is each session and how frequent?
Counselling sessions are once weekly on the same day and time and last for 50 minutes.

How long will I need to come for therapy?
This is difficult to say. Some clients need open ended therapy to enable us to work at a deeper level and explore more issues. They come to therapy for a year or longer. For some clients focused short term therapy (6-12 sessions) is appropriate. When we discuss your needs at the initial session we will identify what would better suit your needs.

What happens if I cancel a session?
Your counselling sessions are reserved for you at the same day and time each week so cancelled sessions will need to be paid for. However you will not pay for sessions missed due to my breaks and I will endeavour to give you several weeks notice of any breaks.
